In Praise of Shame

If we were truly created by God, then why do we still occasionally bite the insides of our own mouths? Have you ever felt less divine then when you suddenly go “Ah, I think I’ve bitten myself on the inside of my mouth….” I seemed to have chewed at my cheek there. As if I’d forgotten where my lips were. So eager to eat that plate of pasta, I have eaten through my own face.
