omg you know what pisses me off?
I hate it when there is a gay couple on tv, and the narrators and stuff refer to them as “partners”,
but when there is a straight couple, they’re referred to as husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend.
like, why do gay people have to be referred to as “partners”? They’re not working on a fucking project for school.
Just because they’re homosexual doesn’t mean they should be referred to any differently like they’re not worthy of being recognized as a couple ugh.
I use “partners” for pretty much all people in romantic relationships. Firstly because it’s not gender-specific (if you’re non-binary you obviously can’t be a boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife) and also because it’s polyamory-inclusive because there’s a limitless amount of partners you can have. It’s also useful to use if you meet a couple and you don’t know whether they’re married or not, because ‘partner’ is accurate either way. In the interest of equality I think all people in relationships should be referred to in the same way and I think partner is the most broadly applicable.

I hate the reaction I get sometimes when I’m talking about someone and I say “her girlfriend” or “his boyfriend”.
